“Go for it! Every day, be the best that you can be and enjoy the moment.” – Kirsten Coetzee class of 2014

I graduated from Kloof High school in December 2014, looking back, these were definitely some of the most memorable moments of my life. Kloof provided me with superb resources with regards to in the classroom, on the sports field, and lifelong friendships. Without all my teachers, coaches, and friends that I met along my journey at Kloof, I would not be where I am today.

A little about me, in August 2015, I began my journey in the United States, in Atlanta Georgia. I graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. During these four years of college, I was fortunate enough to be on a full swimming scholarship and I finished off my swimming career in 2019 as a multi all-American, Daktronics scholar-athlete, as well as my college swim team captain. I am currently in Columbia, Kentucky. I am the assistant college swim coach at Lindsey Wilson College and doing my Masters. I am expected to graduate in May 2021 with my Masters in Counselling and Human Development.

Enough about me, I can honestly say that I am a proud past pupil of Kloof High School, and what you put in, is what you will get out of it. One of my favourite quotes, “Each of us has a fire in our hearts for something. It’s our goal in life to find it and keep it lit.” I was lucky enough to be able to find this passion and grit during my time at Kloof. And I was able to pursue my academic and swimming career thanks to the support and resources that were available.

If there is any advice that I can offer to you, I urge you to make the most of what you have and where you are right now. Use your time wisely and don’t sell yourself short. Make a list of long-term goals and short-term goals in order to achieve each milestone. Take each day as a blessing and be aware of your endless opportunities that await your near future. This is a time where you get to choose what you want to pursue for the rest of your life, what makes you truly happy, and how you want to achieve your optimal well-being. Lastly, never think that any dream is too big. Go for it! Every day, be the best that you can be and enjoy the moment.
