“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
– Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

THE INGWE EDUCATION FOUNDATION is a non-profit company (NPC) which was formed in order to support the continued provision of high-quality education in the Upper Highway area, with a focus on Kloof High School.

This foundation is a separate legal entity with its own Board of Directors. Its founding directors, approved at a School Governing Body Meeting are:-

  • Mrs Dawn Lefort (immediate past Principal)

VISION

Providing for those who have benefitted from KHS to contribute to an enduring legacy to the school by ‘sowing back’ their expertise, industry knowledge, opportunities, wisdom, and finances, to the benefit of future generations of pupils who will pass through KHS.

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT

The role of Ingwe is to attract donations from alumni, past and current parents, and potential benefactors, both locally and abroad. These donations will be used to fund scholarships, capital projects to enhance the school facilities and, in general, to promote education at Kloof High School.
Donors will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide a scholarship to fund indigent learners.
  • Contribute to a capital project either as a major donor with naming rights or as a part contribution to the project.
  • Contribute to a project as a group, for example, the class of 19xx project.
  • To fund development in a particular sphere of the school, for example – Academics, sport, or culture

TAX BENEFITS

The Foundation has been approved as a Section 18A public benefit organisation (PBO) to allow for donations to be tax-deductible in the hands of the donor. This deduction is up to 10% of taxable income. Any amount in excess of that 10% can roll over to future years. South Africa has reciprocity for 18A deductions with the UK and USA.

Ingwe’s accounts are subject to an external audit, and at present, administrative functions are performed by the business manager and admin staff of Kloof High via a memorandum of understanding (MOA) with the school.
